West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Fifth Third Ballpark and Blue Cap Entertainment announced today that music sensation B.o.B will be the headliner at Fifth Third Ballpark on Tuesday, August 10, the final day of the 'Rock the Rapids' festival presented by SKYY Vodka, in association with Clear Channel Radio and WOOD TV 8. The B.o.B show is presented by 104.5 WSNX. Supporting acts will be named at a later date.

A 21-year-old Atlanta native, B.o.B is an Atlantic Records rapper/singer-songwriter/producer who became the 13th male solo artist in the history of the Billboard 200 album chart to have a debut album at #1 on its first week. "B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray," debuted at #1 on April 27, 2010, featuring the breakout single "Nothin' On You" featuring Bruno Mars, which soared to #1 on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100, Rap, Pop and U.K. Singles charts. B.o.B's eclectic style busts out of the rap template and offers a mainstream-friendly hip-hop base accented by flourishes from outside genres like rock and pop (witness the infectious hook that Bruno Mars lends to the lead single).

Following up the wildly successful "Nothin' On You" is "Airplanes" featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore, which currently sits at #2 on the Billboard Pop Songs and Radio Songs chart.

WSNX Program Director Eric O'Brien is excited about bringing in someone of the caliber of B.o.B. for the Rock the Rapids festival. "B.o.B is THE breakout star of 2010 on his way to a second # 1 song this year with 'Airplanes,' O'Brien said. "B.o.B will be a huge part of the biggest pop show to hit West Michigan this year. WSNX is proud to be a part of the second year of Rock the Rapids with an even bigger show than last year."

Opening the festival on Sunday, August 8 is country music star Jason Aldean with opener David Nail. Bret Michaels, formerly of Poison and reigning Celebrity Apprentice champion, headlines day two (Monday, August 9) with opening act Saving Abel.

Last year's inaugural 'Rock The Rapids' festival at Fifth Third Ballpark featured Chickenfoot, Flo Rida, Sean Kingston and the hottest teenager on the planet, Justin Bieber. This year's festival has been expanded from two to three days and is poised to become known as the music and entertainment festival of Grand Rapids. Plans are already under way for an expanded 'Rock The Rapids' in 2011.

'Rock The Rapids' is one of a growing number of non-baseball events hosted at Fifth Third Ballpark, among them both indoor and outdoor concerts and festivals, weddings, football games and private company parties, as the Whitecaps continue to brand Fifth Third Ballpark as a multi-use facility.

Field general admission tickets are $30.00 and reserved box seats are $25.00. These tickets will go on sale Friday, July 2 at 10 a.m. at the Fifth Third Ballpark Box Office (616-784-4131) and online at fifththirdballpark.com and rocktherapids.com. General admission tickets will be $20.00 and will go on sale at a later date. Prices will increase by $5.00 on the day of the show. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.
