CHECKERS HAUNT LYNX, WIN 5-0
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers played their first home game of the season at Time Warner Cable Arena and gave their home fans something to cheer about as they defeated the Augusta Lynx by a score of 5-0.

CHECKERS TOP GLADIATORS IN SHOOTOUT, 4-3
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers played in their first shootout game of the season and were successful beating Gwinnett by a score of 4-3.

- Checkers forward Matthew Ford has a five game point streak garnering six goals and three assists since the start of the season.
- The Checkers finish the month on top of the South Division with a record of 5-2.
- Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has won all four games he has started this season and holds a 1.75 GAA with a .934 save percentage.
- Defenseman Kenny Smith was named the Checkers captain before the home game on Oct. 31. He was awarded the honor by a team vote.
