The Charleston RiverDogs extended their winning streak to 10 games with a 9-4 victory over the Lexington Legends Wednesday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The RiverDogs are now 15-3 for the season.

Charleston opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning. Angelo Gumbs led off with a double, took third on a wild pitch by Lexington starter Kyle Hallock and scored on a double by Kelvin De Leon. DeLeon scored on a two-out single by Francisco Arcia.

The RiverDogs added four more runs in the fourth inning. De Leon and Cito Culver singled, and Reymond Nunez grounded into a force out, leaving runners at first and third. Arcia followed with a base hit, scoring DeLeon. After the ball was returned to the infield, shortstop Alex Todd threw behind Arcia at first base, but his throw went past first for an error, and Nunez scored as Arcia held on at first.

Mason Williams, who was 4-for-4 in the game, singled to right field, sending Arcia to second, and Anderson Feliz followed with another hit to load the bases.

The Legends almost got out of the inning as Dante Bichette, Jr. grounded back to Hallock, who threw to catcher Mike Kvasnicka for a force at home, but Kvasnicka's throw to first base was high and went into right field for an error. Williams and Feliz scored before Bichette was thrown out at third to end the inning, leaving Charleston in front 6-0.

Three solo homers accounted for the other Charleston runs. Tyler Austin homered in the seventh, and Williams and Feliz went back-to-back in the eighth.

The Legends scored all their runs in the bottom of the eighth. Delino DeShields Jr. walked with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch by Charleston reliever Ben Paullus. Justin Gominsky also walked as DeShields moved to third on another wild pitch, and Jordan Scott's single scored DeShields with the Legends' first run. After Zach Johnson grounded into a force play, Matt Duffy walked to load the bases. Alex Todd's line-drive double into left center field scored all three runners.

Charleston starter Bryan Mitchell (1-1) pitched five shutout innings to get the win. Hallock (1-1) took the loss. Charleston has won the first two games of the series, which continues Thursday night.

Game time is 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. for a special appearance by former University of Kentucky basketball star Terrence Jones, who will sign autographs and throw a ceremonial first pitch.
