Club de Foot Montreal News Release
CHICAGO, Illinois - CF Montréal (14-8-4) heads to Illinois to take on the Chicago Fire FC (8-12-6) this Saturday at 8 pm EDT at Soldier Field (TVA Sports, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
Looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games (5-0-2), the Montrealers are just one win away from tying a Club record for most wins in a season (set in 2015). The Bleu-blanc-noir remain second in the Eastern Conference standings, trailing the Philadelphia Union by five points. CF Montréal, however, still has a game in hand.
Of Montreal's 47 goals this season, the third-highest total in the East, seven have been scored by substitutes. In fact, the squad is just one goal away from tying the club record set last season.
Additionally, midfielder Djordje Mihailovic will once again be available for Saturday's game, following his absence last weekend. This Wednesday, the Club announced the transfer of the 23-year-old American to AZ Alkmaar of the Dutch first division. Mihailovic will finish the current season with CF Montréal and then join his new club on January 1, 2023.
As for the opponents, Chicago lost for the second time in seven home games on Sunday, falling 2-0 to New York City FC. The Fire have been shut out in each of their last two home matches. But Chicago hasn't gone three straight home games without scoring since the 2009 season.
Montreal has a 10-7-6 overall record against the hosts, with a +2 goal difference. Wilfried Nancy's men will be looking for a third straight win against Chicago, having won the last two meetings by 2-0 and 1-0 scores on September 19, 2021 and May 29, 2021, respectively.
