Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC close a two-game road trip on Saturday when they face Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. CDT and will air on TUDN and Univision. The Dynamo match is part of a doubleheader that concludes with Houston Dynamo 2 vs. MNUFC2 at 6 p.m. CDT, which will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
The Dynamo look to split the two-game road trip after earning a 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids last Saturday. Forward Sebas Ferreira scored the equalizer moments before the final whistle and the Paraguayan international leads the team with nine goals scored this season. The play began outside the box once Daniel Steres laid the ball off for Ferreira. That was Steres first assist of the season, and the center back has now contributed to goals in back-to-back games for the team. The centerback scored the second goal of the evening for Houston in their last home game against Montreal on Aug. 13.
The Dynamo will host a watch party for Saturday's game in collaboration with Dawn and the Houston Food Bank. The Houston Food Bank will host a volunteer drive alongside Saturday's nationally televised match and fans are encouraged to join Dynamo staff members at the event. Fans interested in this event can register here while spots remain. Fans are encouraged to follow Dynamo Charities on Twitter to receive alerts for upcoming volunteer events in the community.
This is the second meeting of the season between both teams and the Dynamo aim to split the series after a 2-1 loss at home on July 23. Houston mounted a heavy offensive effort forcing three saves and finishing with 22 shots that evening. Fafa Picault found the back of the net in the 86th minute for his fourth goal of the campaign.
The Loons have won two of their last three games and enter the match in fourth place in the Western Conference. The team is led by 2022 MLS All-Star Emanuel Reynoso, who has scored 10 goals and leads the team with eight assists. Forward Luis Amarilla has found the back of the net eight times this season and the midfield duo of Franco Fragapane and Robin Lod combine for 12 goals.
The Dynamo face a quick turnaround as they host Carlos Vela, Gareth Bale and Los Angeles Football Club at PNC Stadium on Aug. 31.
DYNAMO 2 HIT FINAL STRETCH
Dynamo 2 return to league play and face a direct rival in MNUFC 2 for the fourth and final playoff spot in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference on Saturday. Dynamo Academy alum Jathan Juarez scored the lone goal in the last meeting, a 1-0 victory for Dynamo 2 at AVEVA Stadium on July 24. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw on May 14 in the first meeting of the season and the Dynamo left with one point after the penalty shootout.
Dynamo 2 forward Kyle Edwards scored his fourth goal of the season to force a 1-1 draw in Houston's last outing on Aug. 14 against Colorado Rapids 2. Houston will face the Rapids one more time this season and that is their lone match against a team eliminated from the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro postseason. Including Saturday, three of the next four matches are against a direct opponent vying for the playoffs.
The team faces MNUFC 2 team that has earned nine points from their last five games. The team is led by Aziel Jackson who leads the league with 51 key passes and has scored eight goals this season. The forward has also tallied seven assists this season as Minnesota enters this game seven points behind Dynamo 2 for the final playoff spot.
Dynamo 2 return to AVEVA Stadium on Sept. 3 to host St. Louis CITY 2 and their final road trip of the regular season is scheduled for Sept. 11 against the Rapids. Dynamo 2 close the regular season at home against North Texas SC on Sept. 18.

Here are three key points ahead of Saturday's doubleheader:
FERREIRA NEAR MILESTONE: Forward Sebas Ferreira tallied his ninth goal of the season on Saturday and currently leads the team with 10 in all competitions. Ferreira needs one goal to be the fourth player to score double digit goals in his first season with the team, forward Fafa Picault was the last player to reach that mark and he did so in 2021 with 11 goals. Ferreira has now scored in back-to-back games three times this season and he looks to set a new record for the most goals scored by a Dynamo player in their first year with the team. Brian Ching and Dwayne De Rosario finished with 11 goals each in 2006 and Picault tallied the same number last season. Three goals would give Ferreira sole possession of the mark and he has eight games left in the regular season to set a new record for the club.
QUIÑÓNES ARRIVES IN HOUSTON: Forward Nelson Quiñónes reported to training earlier this week after acquiring his P-1 Visa. The 20-year-old was signed on loan from Once Caldas in his native Colombia on July 27 and joins the Dynamo after two seasons with Los Albos. The winger earned 31 appearances for the club after he graduated from the Once Caldas academy system. He made his debut as an 18-year-old coming off the bench on July 25, 2021 against Jaguares FC.
DYNAMO 2 BACKLINE SETS STANDARD FOR CONFERENCE: The Dynamo 2 backline has conceded the fewest goals in the Western Conference this season and that has played a key role in their success this campaign. Of the 21 goals conceded this year the team has allowed four goals at home and the team has tallied eight clean sheets. Five of those clean sheets belong to Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Xavier Valdez, who is currently tied for the second most clean sheets in the league.
