Lancaster Stormers News Release

Dionys Cesar, a Barnstormer in 2007, defeated his former ballclub with a bases loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Camden Riversharks took the continuation of a seven-game, home-and-home series, 3-1, Monday evening at Campbell's Field.

The Barnstormers' second half record dropped to 3-7 with the loss.

Wilson Valdez grounded a one-out single into left field in the eighth inning, chasing starter Will Savage (6-8). Nate Reed was brought into the game to face left-handed Raul Padron, but the strategy was foiled when Padron flared a single off the tip of shortstop Kyle Haines' glove, putting runners at first and second. Reed stayed in the game to start the at bat of Valentino Pascucci. Pascucci pushed the count to 2-2, and manager Butch Hobson lifted Reed for sidewheeler Brodie Downs. Downs' first pitch escaped the grasp of catcher Dayton Buller, moving the runners to second and third. Pascucci was given ball four, setting up the meeting between Downs and Cesar. The switch hitting third baseman, pulled a hard grounder just out of the reach of first baseman Daryle Ward. Valdez scored easily, and Padron beat the throw of right fielder Ryan Harvey for the insurance run.

Lancaster had tied the game in the seventh off reliever Jordan Ellis. Blake Gailen picked up a four-pitch walk to open the inning. He waited through a pair of fly ball outs to right before moving to second on Harvey's single to the hole at shortstop. Kyle Russell singled to right, and Gailen sped home ahead of the relay throw.

Pascucci had singled home Yasser Gomez in the first with the game's initial run. Joey Williamson, in his Atlantic League debut, held the Barnstormers to two doubles in five innings.

The two clubs meet for a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday. Brian Grening (4-5) and Derrick Loop (1-4) will make the starts for Lancaster while Ryan Kulik (1-5) and Jake Hale (1-0) will pitch the doubleheader for Camden. Fans may tune into 1600-AM, WPDC for the day game. The rest of the network (1390-AM, WLAN; 1390wlan.com and the I Heart Radio cell phone app) will be available for the night game.

NOTES: Jerry Owens extended his latest hitting streak to 11 with a ground rule double in the third...Gailen reached base for the 30th straight game, extending the streak with a double in the first...Russell has the last three Lancaster RBI over a span of three-games...The temperature was 93 degrees at game time, according to weather.com.
