Cats Play 'Wall' Ball to Sink Goats

HARTFORD- Home runs by former Hartford Yard Goat Forrest Wall and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and three doubles from Harold Ramirez highlighted a 13-hit attack to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 7-3 win over the Yard Goats Thursday night, before a capacity crowd of 6,850 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. It was first place New Hampshire's (57-44) 13th win in 15 games against Hartford (49-52) this season, as the Goats fell to eight games out of first and lost for the third straight game.

Wall, who earlier in the day was traded by the Colorado Rockies organization to Toronto, as part of a a multi-player deal that brought big league reliever Seunghwan Oh to Colorado, homered in his second at bat for the Blue Jays AA affiliate, in front of the Yard Goats' 30th sellout crowd of the season. Hartford has attracted 292,875 fans to Dunkin' Donuts Park this season. Wall's home run tied the game at 2-2, after the Yard Goats had taken a 2-1 lead in the second inning on a two-run bloop double down the right-field line by Mylz Jones. It would be the only lead for Hartford, as the Fisher Cats pounded out 13 hits, eight for extra bases.

In addition to three doubles and an RBI by Ramirez, Max Pentecost had a double, two singles and two RBI. Joe Berti added two triples and two RBI and Guerrero Jr. a home run, single and an RBI. A triple and single by Yonathan Daza and the two-run double by Jones topped the Hartford offense.

Hartford starter Jesus Tinoco pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on nine hits. He walked one and tied his season-high in strike outs with eight. Jon Harris notched the victory for New Hampshire - his third against the Yard Goats - giving up two runs on four hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out six.

Game two of the four-game series and the start of Whaler Weekend, when the Yard Goats honor the Hartford Whalers, will be Friday night at 7:05. RHP Rico Garcia will pitch for Hartford against RHP Jordan Romano of New Hampshire.
