CLAW MARKS: The UCLA Bruins have won 109 National Championships in the history of their school, but they now have their first baseball title. The Bruins blanked the Mississippi State Bulldogs 8-0 Tuesday night in Omaha, Nebraska, to capture the 2013 College World Series Final two games to none. First baseman Patrick Gallagher, who played for the Border Cats last season, led the Bruins this season with a .276 batting average. Gallagher played in 55 games for UCLA and added seven doubles, one home run, and 20 runs batted in. The junior from Reno, NV., hit .192 in 38 games for Thunder Bay in 2012 with six doubles, two home runs and 12 runs batted in. Canadian infielder Kyle Hann, from Oakville, ON., played on the Mississippi State team. Hann, who won a silver medal with Canada at the World Junior Baseball Championships in Seoul, South Korea last fall, has signed a contract with the Border Cats this season. Scott Donley, who also played for the Border Cats last year, participated in the College World Series in Omaha with the Indiana Hoosiers.
