Bombers Fall in Pitching Duel

Madison, Wisc - The Battle Creek Bombers(12-15) fell 2-1 to the Madison Mallards (16-10) in a pitching dominated affair Wednesday night.

Alex Tukey started on the mound for Battle Creek. He went 4 innings surrendering just two hits and striking out five. He was paced to an early 1-0 lead as the Bombers struck for in the third as Jordan Farris scored on a Cam Gibson single. That lead would stand up all the way to the 7th inning where with two outs the Mallards tied the game up off Ryan Lavoie thanks to an RBI triple from Luke Meeteer. The 1-1 scored stood up all the way until the bottom of the 9th inning where with the bases loaded Brian Heldman (L 1-1) surrendered a walk-off RBI single to Tate Matheny.

Jamie Nunn started for Madison and went 5 innings surrendering the lone run on 5 hits with 8 strikeouts. The Bombers continue their road trip with two games in Green Bay before returning home on Saturday.
