Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announces the K-Wings Karavan will participate in the Kalamazoo Optimist Club's Kids with Cancer Picnic on Saturday, August 16th.

The picnic will be a reunion for kids that have been treated for cancer or are currently being treated. The picnic will take place from 1-5 P.M. at Markin Glen Park on North Westnedge (West Entrance).

Last season's K-Wings team captain Chad Dameworth will be on hand to sign autographs along with the K-Wings zany mascot Slappy. In addition, the K-Wings will bring the Meijer Puck Shoot Booth for fans of all ages to test their shooting skills.

The K-Wings Karavan is a Dodge Caravan provided by the Harold Zeigler Auto Group designed to promote the K-Wings, the sport of hockey, as well as family fun. The Kalamazoo Wings will be cruising through southwest Michigan this summer promoting the sport of hockey and encouraging fans to "Get into the Game."

The Optimist Club will serve lunch to the kids and their families, and will provide additional entertainment such as a dunk tank, baseball, croquet, water balloons, badminton, and card games. The Parchment High School Cheerleaders will also provide a dance demo.
