Chiefs Announce Training Camp/Exhibition Schedule

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs announced today their exhibition and training camp schedule for the 2003-2004 season.

The Chiefs will have their first on ice session on Sunday, October 5th. Daily on-ice workouts will continue throughout the week from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All on ice sessions will be open to the public.

Friday, October 10th, the Chiefs will play their first exhibition game of the season when they host the Roanoke Express at Altoona's Galactic Ice Arena. Game time is at 7:00 p.m. After the game there will be a "Skate with the Chiefs," and autograph session. Rental skates will be available. Tickets will be available at Galactic Ice or through the Altoona Youth Hockey Association. A portion of the proceeds from the game will go to Altoona Youth Hockey Association.

"We are really excited about going to Altoona to showcase Johnstown Chiefs hockey. We are trying to expand our fan base and the Altoona market is very crucial. The popularity of the game of hockey in that area has increased ten fold of the last couple of years. We look forward to that evening," said Chiefs Vice-President and General Manager Jim Brazill.

On Saturday, October 11th, the Chiefs will host Roanoke and the Wheeling Nailers in a mini round robin tournament at the War Memorial. Each team will play each other once. Games will be two 25 minute halves, with the last five minutes being stop time. In the event of a tie, the games will go directly to a shootout. Tickets for the event will go on sale at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena box office on Sunday, October 5th.
