WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL today announce the signing of two defensemen. Ben Blais and Dan Ennis are the second and third players signed by Nailers Head Coach Pat Bingham for the 2003-2004 season. The two were teammates for two seasons, 2000-01 and 2001-02, at Quinnipiac College. While at Quinnipiac, Blais and Ennis were defensive partners.

Blais, 25, is a 6' 4", 195 pound native of Clifton Park, NY. He played one year at St. Lawrence University before finishing his college career at Quinnipiac. Last season was his first in professional hockey playing for the Adirondack IceHawks of the United Hockey League, coached by Bingham. In 76 games played for the IceHawks he had 21 points on five goals and 16 assists. The New York Islanders selected Blais in the ninth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Ennis, 25, begins his professional career with the Nailers after a four-year career at Quinnipiac College. He is a 6' 3", 225 pound native of Kitimat, BC. Ennis played 112 games during his college career and had 74 points on 19 goals and 55 assists. His career high in points for a season was 29 in both his first and last season for Quinnipiac.

"Ben had a solid rookie season and was one of the most talented players on out team last year," stated Nailers Head Coach Pat Bingham. "Ennis, at a physically and mentally mature 25 years of age, is very strong and moves the puck well. Both Blais and Ennis have a {defense first} mindset, with the ability to create offense. Most importantly, they're both great TEAM guys," commented Bingham.

The Nailers open their season at home against the Roanoke Express on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30p.m. Season ticket packages are now available at the Nailers offices. To get season ticket information, call the Nailers at 234-4625 or toll free at 1-877-NAIL-TIX.
