Catapano Frustrates Rippers

FLORENCE, KENTUCKY - Florence starter, Maxx Catapano (2-0) held London (10- 13) to only three hits in 7 innings, leading the Freedom to a 12-3 win over the Rippers.

Things started slow for London. Yohan Gonzalez (2-1) was hit for three runs in the first inning on a 2-RBI single by Peter Fatse, followed by a single from Junior Rodriguez.

None of the runs were earned.

London got on the scoreboard for the first time in 15 innings in the 7th, when a hit batter and two walks loaded the bases.

Tony Delmonico scored on a wild pitch by Catapano and Brad Agustin cleared the bases with a single, bringing London closer, at 6-3.

But Florence came right back, scoring four in the bottom of the inning, two on John Malloy's RBI single and sacrifice flies by Cole Miles and Pierre LaPage, increasing their lead to 10-3.

The Freedom added two more in the bottom of the 8th inning on a bases loaded single by Ryan Skellie off Charles Wooten, followed by a sacrifice fly from John Malloy.

Junior Rodriguez went 4-for-5 for the Freedom, with two RBIs, leading the way for Florence, who outhit London 16-3.

The Rippers wrap up their series in Florence tomorrow night at 7:05pm.

Matt Schimpf (2-0 3.12) will look to build on his last start, a complete game, one hit shutout for London. The Freedom will counter with Andres Caceres (1-1 6.75).
