Sauget, Ill. - River City smacked three homeruns, including a three-run shot from Curran Redal, his first as a professional, en-route to a 11-8 win in a feisty game against their River Rivals.

Gateway (11-12) took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on three hits including a two-run single from former Rascals Chris McClendon but the Rascals (15-8) responded with five runs in the second on a sacrifice fly from Matt Serna and back-to-back homeruns from Redal and Jeremy Synan.

River City added three runs in the third on a Josh Workman homer and a second Serna sac-fly to make it 8-3.

The Grizzlies made it 8-5 with two runs in the third before the Rascals added a single run in the sixth and two more in the eighth on RBIs from Jason Patton and Josh Workman.

Gateway scored three runs in the eighth on three hits before Dustin Umberger struck out McClendon to end the frame. Umberger would lock down his seventh save in as many chances as River City improved to 15-8.

These two rivals square off in the rubber game tomorrow morning with first pitch set for 11:35.
