
Carruth, Portland too Much for Hitmen

Calgary, AB - Goaltender Mac Carruth recorded 36 saves in a first star performance as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Calgary Hitmen 7-1 Tuesday night at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Jason Trott led the Winterhawks scoring attack with two goals and an assist while William Wrenn posted two points (1g 1a) in the victory.
The Winterhawks, who built period leads of 1-0 and 2-0, also got goals from Seth Swenson, Taylor Leier, Brendan Leipsic, and Brad Ross.
Victor Rask was the lone Hitmen to put one past Carruth on a powerplay opportunity in the final frame. Cody Sylvester and Chase Clayton each posted assists for Calgary.
After allowing two goals less than a minute apart, Chris Driedger was relieved by Brandon Glover in the third period. Glover made 7 saves in the loss.
Calgary wraps up a three-game home stand on Saturday, October 29 when they host the Everett Silvertips for the Hockey Mums Fight Breast Cancer game. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Fans can also support the campaign through on-site donations and the purchase of CBCF promotional items. In addition, 50/50 proceeds from the October 29 matchup will support the cause.
