Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are back in action on home ice with a two game series against the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. Puck-drop for both games is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Friday Night The opening game against the Seattle Thunderbirds is Lugaro Ladies' Night, where fans in attendance will have a chance at winning a 1/2 carat Princess Cut Diamond, as well as one of three $100 gift certificates or one of four $50 prizes. Fans are encouraged to visit the Lugaro table on the concourse to enter for their chance to win.
Friday evening is also the first of three Subway Poster Nights this season. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a collectible Victoria Royals' team poster, courtesy of Subway Restaurants.
In addition, the game will also see the debut of 'Score a Hyundai with Victoria Hyundai', where one lucky fan will be selected as they enter the building for the chance to win a brand new Hyundai vehicle courtesy of Victoria Hyundai.
If all of that isn't enough, fans will also see the return of 'Fly-Away Fridays', where they will have the opportunity to throw their paper airplane entry to win a return flight for two on Harbour Air to Vancouver, one night's accommodation at the Coast Hotel in Vancouver, and two tickets to a Vancouver Canucks game courtesy of BCAA. Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Victoria Racquet Club Minor Hockey Association. The Royals will pay tribute to Team Canada's World Cup Rugby team with a ceremonial puck drop featuring members of the squad including Pat Riordan and Adam Kleeberger.
Saturday Night Royals' fans are invited to celebrate Halloween with the Royals by dressing up in their costumes as Victoria and Seattle conclude their back-to-back series. All fans who come dressed in a costume and purchase a walk-up ticket will receive $3.00 off the regular admission price for any available seat in the arena.
Brown Brothers will also be hosting a special shooting promotion, giving three lucky fans chosen at random the chance to shoot for a whopping $10,000 cash prize. Each contestant will be given a chance to shoot for the grand prize, as well as consolation shots for $50 and $100 gift certificates to the Strathcona Hotel.
Besides the exciting action on the ice, there will also be a 'Kids' Candy Scramble' held during the first intermission, where fifteen children will be selected prior to the game to get a head start on their trick-or-treating by collecting as much candy as they can in one minute's time.
Saturday evening will also feature the three winners of the Victoria Royals' 'Pumpkin Portraits' contest currently being held on the team's Facebook page. The top three pumpkin portraits as determined by the number of 'likes' on the page will be displayed at the game on Saturday, with a winner based on fan votes walking away with an autographed Victoria Royals' flag.
