Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, B.C. -The Prince George Cougars would like to congratulate forward Brett Connolly (1992-Prince George) for making the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League.
So far this season Connolly has tallied two assists through nine games, and has received rave reviews from his teammates and his coaching staff.
"We are very happy and proud for Brett," said Prince George Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson. "He worked very hard this summer to be ready for NHL camp, and we know that he'll represent Prince George and the Cougars very well in the National Hockey League."
Connolly certainly made his mark in Prince George with 86 career goals and 152 points in 144 career games played. Connolly was drafted sixth overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2010 and played for Canada at last year's World Junior Hockey Championship tournament in Buffalo, NY.
Over the years, the Cougars have developed numerous prominent NHLers like: Zdeno Chara (Boston, Stanley Cup captain 2011), Dustin Byfuglien (Winnipeg, Stanley Cup champion 2010), Eric Brewer (Tampa Bay), Dan Hamhuis (Vancouver), Devin Setoguchi (Minnesota), Chris Mason (Winnipeg) and Brett Connolly can now be added to that list.
