Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 2-1 at Prospera Place on Wednesday night in front of 6,038 fans in Kelowna.
Myles Bell scored the winning goal in the third period, ripping a one-time slap shot home for a power play marker that made the score 2-0.
Jarrett Fontaine cut the lead to 2-1 later in the period but the Cougars couldn't solve Kelowna starter Adam Brown who turned aside 28 shots and was named first star.
The Rockets opened the scoring in the first period when Shane McColgan fired his fourth of the season home after taking a drop pass from Colton Sissons.
The win improved the Rockets record to 5-7-1-0.
Kelowna moves on to a tough test this weekend as it gets set for a home and home series with its closest rival the Kamloops Blazers. The Rockets and Blazers meet Friday night in Kamloops before the return match-up Saturday night in Kelowna.
