Laredo Lemurs News Release

LAREDO, TX - The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Laredo Lemurs center fielder Sawyer Carroll has been named this week's Pointstreak Batter of the Week.

Carroll's run production was among the best in the American Association this week. In eight games for Laredo, the left-handed hitting outfielder drove in 10 runs. He also hit a home run, a triple and three doubles, while hitting .455 (15-for-33) for the week. Carroll's biggest offensive showing came on Saturday against Amarillo when he went 5-for-6 with a homer and four RBI.

With his performance this week, Carroll now sits third in the American Association for both batting average and RBI. The Laredo outfielder is hitting just a shade under.400, at .394. If he can improve his average by six points, he will join St. Paul's Brad Boyer (.417) and Lincoln's Dennis Raben (.409) as the only American Association players hitting at a 4-for-10 pace. In addition, Carroll has driven home 23 runs, which puts him just two RBI behind Raben for the league lead (Kansas City's Matt Padgett is in second with 24 RBI).
