
Carreno Wins Second Straight as Fisher Cats Top Mets

(Manchester, NH)-Joel Carreno allowed one run on just two hits over 6.1 innings and earned his second consecutive win as the Fisher Cats opened a three-game series at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium with a 7-1 win over Binghamton on Tuesday night. Carreno also matched a season high with eight strikeouts.
Mike McDade drilled a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Fisher Cats an early lead. It was the fifth of the season for the 22-year old first basemen, and followed an error, which allowed Adeiny Hechavarria to reach and a single by Anthony Gose.
New Hampshire (23-14) extended the lead in the bottom of the second inning. John Tolisano led off with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. Darin Mastroianni (3-for-4, 2B, 2R) singled with Tolisano advancing to third base. Hechavarria (2-for-5, 2 R, RBI) singled Tolisano in to make it 4-0. Anthony Gose (3-for-4, R, 2 RBI) singled home Mastroianni and Hechavarria scored on a fly to center by Moises Sierra to make it 6-0.
The Fisher Cats also scored a run in the top of the fourth as Gose singled home Mastroianni, who had doubled, for a 7-0 lead.
Brandon Moore (3-2) took the loss, working the first four frames for Binghamton.
The Mets (13-22) scored in the top of the sixth inning, ending Carreno's consecutive scoreless inning streak at 13 innings. Josh Satin walked and Brahiam Maldanado doubled him home.
After Carreno, Matt Daly, Mike Hinckley and Yohan Pino blanked the Mets over the final 2.2 innings.
The Fisher Cats continue the series with Mets on Wednesday night at 7:05pm. It will be Indian Head Athletics Scholar Athlete Night and fans can play USA Subs Baseball Bingo.
