Carr Shuts Down Thunder in 2-0 Win
November 27, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release
Tulsa, OK - Tulsa netminder Kevin Carr came into Friday's game with terrific numbers against the Thunder (6-11-0-1) and that didn't change, helping the Oilers (6-7-1-1) to a 2-0 victory at the BOK Center. He improved to 13-2-0-0 all-time against Wichita and claimed the first win for the Oilers in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series.
The only goal of the first period came at the 11 minute mark when Justin Mansfield intercepted a pass at the right circle and beat David Shantz over the glove for the 1-0 advantage. Wichita was held to just three shots, but started to tilt the ice with puck
possession in the offensive zone.
Tulsa added to the lead in the third period when Phil Brewer caught a pass from Dan DeSalvo and beat Shantz to make it 2-0 at 11:38 of the third period. The Thunder had a late two-on-one, but Carr stopped a one-timer from Danick Gauthier and time ran out.
Shantz stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced in the losing effort while Carr was perfect with 24 saves.
Wichita went 0-for-3 on the power play. Tulsa was 0-for-2 on the man advantage.
