
Captains Homer Seven Times and Sweep Twin Bill from BG

Lake County Captains News Release
(Bowling Green, KY)- Lake County blasted seven homeruns in the double header and swept the Hot Rods on Wednesday afternoon. The Captains won both games by a final of seven to two. The Captains have won four games for the second time this season and are alone in first place in the eastern division.
In game one, Lake County sent nine men to the plate and scored four runs in the top of the third inning. Logan Vick knocked home the first run with a single and then Clint Frazier capped the inning with a three-run homerun and the Captains led 4-0.
Lake County scored three more runs in the game. A solo homer from Logan Vick in fourth inning and a solo homer from Paul Hendrix in the fifth inning and an RBI single from Grant Fink in the fourth inning to make the score 7-0.
Bowling Green scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth Darryl George doubled home a run and BG scored on a Wild Pitch the score was 7-2. That was the final.
In game two, The Captains again got out to the 7-0 lead. In the second inning, Nellie Rodriguez smacked his ninth HR of the season and Richard Stock hit a two-run homer Claudio Bautista knocked in a run with a triple. In the top of the third inning the Captains hit two more homers. A solo shot from Paul Hendrix, who also homered in the first game, and the Grant Fink hit a two run home run and the Captains led 7-0. BG scored a run in the fourth on a single from James Harris and added a run in the seventh on a base hit from Spenser Edwards. The final once again was 7-2.
RHP Dace Kime (3-9) took the ball for the Captains in game one and earned the win. Kime went five and one third innings and allowed six hits two earned runs three walks and four strikeouts. Ben Heller pitched one and two thirds innings of scoreless baseball. Hendrix allowed one hit and struck out five.
RHP Jake Faria (3-4) started for Bowling Green in the first game and took the loss. Faria went four and two thirds innings and allowed ten hits, seven runs, six of the runs were earned, he walked one and fanned four while surrendering three homers. Stone Speer finished the game and kept the Captains off of the scoreboard.
LHP Anderson Polanco (1-0) got the nod for the Captains in game two and pitched three scoreless innings. Polanco allowed two walks and he struck out three. Justin Brantley got the win. Brantley pitched two innings of hitless and shutout baseball he walked one and struck out one. Carlos Melo and Alexis Paredes each pitched an inning of relief.
RHP Jorge Rodriguez (2-4) started game two for the Hot Rods and took the loss. Rodriguez pitched two innings and allowed four earned runs and three hits and two strikeouts. He also allowed two homers. The bullpen came in and allowed three earned runs and two more homers.
The Captains will remain on the road to conclude the three game series in Bowling Green on Thursday. The Captains will send LHP Luis Lugo (5-5, 5.40) to the mound to start. The Hot Rods will counter with Ryne Stanek (3-3, 3.53). First pitch at 8:05 PM from Bowling Green Ballpark.
