DAVENPORT, Iowa. (June 25, 2014) - Fans at Modern Woodmen Park can enjoy a unique dining experience and a wide variety of concession items, including Chocolate-Covered Bacon, which is now competing in MiLB.com's Food Fight, in which fans decide the Minor Leagues' best ballpark concession.
Combining salty and sweet delights into one snack, the Quad Cities River Bandits' Chocolate-Covered bacon is one of a kind in the Midwest League. Playing off food found at Quad Cities-area fairs, it features a double-thick cut of bacon is cooked on a stick and then dipped into melted Belgian chocolate. Easy to hold, the Chocolate-Covered Bacon blends the savory, salty taste of bacon and the delicious sweetness of chocolate.
" Each year, we build on one of the most fantastic ballpark dining experiences in Minor League Baseball by giving fans more unique and affordable options on the ballpark menu, and Chocolate-Covered Bacon has been a top hit this season at Modern Woodmen Park," said River Bandits owner Dave Heller. Fans in the Quad Cities can now spread the word by voting in the MiLB.com Food Fight.
Chocolate-Covered Bacon is in the 60-item field featuring concession items across Minor League Baseball. Fans can visit MiLB.com/FoodFight and vote for their favorite ballpark concessions among randomly selected pairs. Upon voting, they will get another random pair. Fan choices will be recorded until Thursday, July 10, when the winner will be announced .
Fans in the Quad Cities can try Chocolate-Covered Bacon at the ballpark during the July 3 Red, White and Boom Fireworks event, as well as the next River Bandits home stand starting at 7 p.m. Friday, July 4, at Modern Woodmen Park.
UP NEXT: Back-to-back fireworks nights kick of the Fourth of July weekend at Modern Woodmen Park. The ballpark will open Thursday, July 3, for the annual Red, White and Boom Fireworks, and the River Bandits will have Fourth of July Fireworks presented by Smart Toyota of the Quad Cities, WLLR and WQAD following the 7 p.m. game on Friday, July 4.
