(Dayton, OH) - Hunter Gaddis engaged in a pitchers duel with Eduardo Salazar on Friday night at Day Air Ballpark as the Lake County Captains (50-44) lost 2-0 to the Dayton Dragons (50-44).

Due to a two hour rain delay, the game began after 9:00 p.m. which set the table for a seven inning game where both starting pitchers went the distance.

Gaddis (3-8) worked six innings on the mound for his fourth consecutive quality start. Despite working all six innings on the mound, Gaddis was handed the loss after allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

Salazar (4-5) earned the win for the Dragons with a complete game shutout. He pitched seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts. Salazar allowed one walk and three hits.

In the bottom of the second, Victor Ruiz hit a high fly ball that cleared the left field wall for a solo home run to put the Dragons up 1-0.

Dayton added an insurance run tin the bottom of the sixth to lead 2-0. Jacob Hurtubise was hit by a pitch to open the inning. Next up was Michael Siani who collected his second bloop double of the game with a soft fly that dropped perfectly down the left field line. That put runners on second and third for Dayton. With one out Juan Martinez hit a fly ball to left that was deep enough to drive in Hurtubise for a sacrifice fly to complete the scoring.

Daniel Espino is scheduled to start game four of the six-game series on Saturday night. First pitch at Day Air Ballpark is scheduled for 7:09 p.m.
