West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The month of May has been tough for baseball fans in West Michigan. The Whitecaps have been on the road since May 14, but the team has a Memorial Day gift for fans. After more than 12 days away from Fifth Third Ballpark, the 'Caps are coming home just in time to celebrate the start of summer.

The 'Caps kick off a four-game homestand on Sunday, May 27 with a 2 p.m. game against the Fort Wayne Wizards. "This is the longest stretch the team will be away from Fifth Third Ballpark all season and I know the fans are excited to welcome them back," said Whitecaps Marketing Manager Mickey Graham. "We've got a lot planned for these next four games and it's going to be a great time for everyone."

Sunday's game is also a Spectrum Health Family Day. That means the first 1,000 kids 12 and under through the gates receive a voucher for a free hot dog, Pepsi product and chips. Plus, fans can get autographs on the field from the Whitecaps pre-game and also play catch in the outfield area. After the game, it's Big Boy Kids Run the Bases, where kids can race around the basepath just like their favorite players. Everyone who crosses homeplate will receive a certificate for a free kids meal at Big Boy.

On Memorial Day, the Whitecaps game will feature a special 2 p.m. start when the team again takes on the Fort Wayne Wizards. Monday is also JQ 99 FM All Faith's Day. Fans can bring a church or community bulletin to the Whitecaps Box Office for half off box or reserved seat tickets.

The circus is rolling into town for Tuesday's game against the Lansing Lugnuts. The internationally known Russian Bar Act will perform their gymnastics and balance beam act before the game and also between innings as part of the season's first Big Top Tuesday. Before and during the game, local clowns Mr. and Mrs. Bubbles will wow the crowd with their face painting and balloon animal skills. Tuesday fans 50 years or better can also receive half price box or reserved tickets as part of Bob Evans Seniors Night.

Wednesday is the second School Days Game of the season. The special 11 a.m. start allows school groups to come to the ballpark and take advantage of the interactive learning displays set up in the lawn area.

Following Wednesday's game, the Whitecaps hit the road for two days and are back at Fifth Third Ballpark on Saturday, June 2 for a four game series against the Fort Wayne Wizards. Tickets are still available for all games and can be purchased by calling the Whitecaps Ticket Office at (616) 784-4131 or logging on to the Whitecaps website, whitecapsbaseball.com.
