Capitols Acquire Stout and Draft Compensation in Trade with Waterloo

January 5, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release

The Madison Capitols announced today that the team has acquired affiliated defenseman John Stout, a 2024 Phase II Draft Pick, and future considerations from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for defenseman Will Felicio.

Stout, 17, currently plays for Minnetonka HS in Minnesota where he serves as an alternate captain on the team. The tall, left-shot defenseman is committed to play his collegiate hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Stout helped Minnetonka take home the MSHSL AA State Championship last season, and the Skippers are off to a 11-0-1 start to his senior campaign. Stout scored last night in Minnetonka's 6-0 win over Hill-Murray.

The Phase II 4th Round Pick that was acquired in the deal was originally owned by Tri-City. The pick was brought in by Waterloo in a trade in September. Madison now owns eight picks in the first four rounds of the 2024 Phase II Draft including Tri-City's third and fourth round selection.

The Capitols would like to thank Will Felicio for his time with the organization and wish him nothing but the best in the future.
