Youngstown Signs Jack Hextall to USHL Tender Agreement
January 5, 2024 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release
The Youngstown Phantoms announced today that they have signed forward Jack Hextall to a USHL tender agreement for the 2024-25 season.
Born in Rolling Meadows, Ill., Hextall is currently playing with Chicago Mission 15U AAA where he has registered 24 goals and 48 assists in 50 games. A 5-11, 165-lb., righthanded shot, Hextall is a product of the Windy City AAA program where he had 32 goals and 61 assists for 93 points in 58 games last year.
"Jack is one of the best 2008 born hockey players in the world. We are thrilled to have him and the entire Hextall family join our program," said Ryan Ward, Youngstown's head coach. "Jack is a player who plays a complete 200-foot game. He is smart, drives plays, sees the ice extremely well and is a dual threat who can pass or shoot. He is a powerful skater with a competitive drive and will to win that is exceptional. He's a leader and will be a perfect fit to put on the Phantom jersey. We are ecstatic that Jack chose to play in Youngstown and look forward to him continuing to make Youngstown the premiere place to play junior hockey in the world."
Hextall joins Beckham Edwards as players who have signed tenders with the Phantoms this year and is the 13th tender in Youngstown team history.
The USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2008 birth year players in exchange for their first and second-round picks in the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft. As a result of signing Hextall (and Edwards) the Phantoms surrender their first and second-round picks in Phase I of the USHL Draft this upcoming spring. Each tendered player will be on their respective team's roster the next season and play at least 55% of the team's regular season games.
