Capitals Re-Assign Galiev to Hershey for Conditioning Purposes

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned forward Stanislav Galiev to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) for conditioning purposes, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Galiev, 23, played in two games with the Capitals this season and earned his first NHL assist on Oct. 15 against Chicago. Last season, Galiev made his NHL debut on April 8 against Boston and scored his first NHL goal on April 11 against the Rangers. The Moscow native has registered two points (one goal, one assist) in four NHL games.

Galiev registered 45 points (25 goals, 20 assists) in 67 games with Hershey (AHL) last season and set career highs in goals, assists and points. He finished the season ranked first in the AHL in power-play goals (15) and tied for first among Bears skaters in goals. The 6'2", 197-pound right wing recorded a career-high six game point streak from Feb. 6-15 (five goals, four assists) and tallied 10 multi-point games during the 2014-15 season. Galiev has earned 52 points (28 goals, 24 assists) in 100 career AHL games. He was selected by Washington in the third round, 86th overall, in the 2010 NHL Draft.
