Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (June 13, 2007) - Quebec 3B Eddie Lantigua hit a two-run HR in the top of the first inning and drove in four in the game to help lead his Capitales over the Brockton Rox 10-4 before a packed "School Day" crowd of 4,861 at Campanelli Stadium. The Capitales bested the Rox two games to one in the three-game series, a rematch of last year's Can-Am League Championship Series. LF Ryan Sickles and C Lee Rubin each had two hits and an RBI in the loss for the Rox. The loss drops Brockton to 11-9 in 2007 as they head into a four-game series Thursday at 7:05 PM at home against the Nashua Pride.

LHP Donavon Hendricks garnered the start for Brockton but lasted just 1.1 innings. He allowed the two run blast to Lantigua in the first and threw a wild pitch in the second, as Quebec jumped out in front 4-0. After Hendricks hit two batters and walking another in the second, the Rox turned to RHP Gary Galvez. While Galvez did allow one inherited runner to score, he stranded a pair of Capitales on base in the second frame. The Rox plated a run in the bottom of the inning on a Sickles RBI single and another in the third inning when DH Francisco Lebron doubled RF Guye Senjem to third and Senjem scored on an error.

Chipping away at the Capitales' lead, Rubin's RBI grounder in the fifth made it 5-3, and 2B Eugene Julien drove in a run with a single to make it a one-run Rox deficit at 5-4. Quebec LF Mike Galloway homered off Galvez in the sixth as the Capitales took a two-run lead back, and then added four runs in the ninth inning against RHP Kyle George. The Rox did not have a base hit in the final three innings as starter RHP Michel Simard and three Capitales relievers combined to retire the final 10 batters of the game.

The Rox send RHP Mike McTamney (0-2, 2.42 ERA) to the hill Thursday against Nashua in a 7:05 PM contest. The Rox are home all this weekend to take on the Pride in a four-game set before heading to Quebec next Tuesday, June 19th.
