Cannon Promoted, Will Make MLB Debut Tonight

RHP Jonathan Cannon had his contract selected by the Chicago White Sox today. Cannon, 23, will make his Major League Debut tonight for the White Sox against the Kansas City Royals.
So far this season, Knights have now promoted eight players to Chicago. Those players (in order of their promotion) are: OF Robbie Grossman (4/5), INF Lenyn Sosa (4/6), LHP Jared Shuster (4/8), OF Oscar Colás (4/10), INF Zach Remillard (4/12), RHP Justin Anderson (4/12), RHP Nick Nastrini (4/15) and RHP Jonathan Cannon (4/16). Last season, 25 players were promoted to Chicago from Charlotte.
Cannon is 0-0 with 2.79 ERA in two starts this season with the Knights in 9.2 innings pitched. He has compiled 11 strikeouts over that span. Cannon entered the season ranked as the number nine prospect in Chicago's system by Baseball America.
RHP Cory Abbott was recently signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent and was added to Charlotte's active roster today. Abbott, 28, made one start for Triple-A Tacoma this season and went 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA over three innings pitched. Last season, he posted a 1-2 mark with a 6.64 ERA in 22 games with the Washington Nationals (39.1 innings pitched). He also went 3-4 with a 4.98 ERA in 13 games started (56.0 innings pitched).
RHP Justin Anderson was optioned to the Knights from the Chicago White Sox on April 15 and was added to Charlotte's active roster today. Anderson, 31, has appeared in five games with the Knights this season and is 0-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA over 4.2 innings pitched. He has allowed just three hits and has five strikeouts over that span. With the White Sox this year, Anderson posted a 7.71 ERA in two appearances (2.1 IP). He was signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on November 22, 2023.
LHP Jared Shuster was optioned to the Charlotte Knights today from the Chicago White Sox and was added to Charlotte's active roster. Shuster, 25, has made one start with the Knights this season (3/30 at Memphis). He allowed seven runs on six hits over four innings pitched. In two games with the White Sox this season, Shuster posted a 1.42 ERA (6.1 IP). He was acquired by the White Sox on November 16, 2023 in a trade with the Atlanta Braves. He entered the 2023 season rated as the number one prospect in Atlanta's system by MLB.com.
RHP Nick Padilla was placed on Charlotte's injured list today. Padilla, 27, is 0-0 with a 4.32 ERA in six appearances out of Charlotte's bullpen this season (8.1 IP/11 SO).
