WORCESTER, M.A. - The Worcester Red Sox (6-9) smacked three home runs on the way to a 7-4 victory over the Durham Bulls (6-10) in the series opener on Tuesday night at Polar Park.

After Durham took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the WooSox scored five times in the next five innings.

In the fourth game of his rehab assignment, Rob Refsnyder delivered his biggest swing of his early season, smashing a game-tying solo home run to left. Refsnyder, who had three hits in three games in Syracuse, notched his second extra-base knock with Worcester.

One inning later, the long ball gave the WooSox their first lead of the night. After a walk and a single, Dalton Guthrie smashed his first organizational home run, a three-run shot to make it 4-1. Guthrie's swing gave him his second extra-base-hit of the year.

Naoyuki Uwasawa made his second professional start in the United States, posting the following line: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. The 30-year-old from Japan worked in to the fifth with one run on his ledger, but allowed a three-run shot to Alex Jackson before recording the final out of his night.

With the lead down to 5-4, Worcester tacked on a pair of key insurance runs in the sixth. Jamie Westbrook ripped a leadoff double to right-center, scoring on an Eddy Alvarez RBI single. After a flyout, Chase Meidroth hit his first Triple-A home run, a solo shot to make it 7-4.

Cam Booser and Zack Kelly combined to hold Durham scoreless over the final four innings, each striking out five over two innings. WooSox pitching combined to strike out 15, a new season high.

Booser has now notched 4.2 consecutive scoreless frames in April, while Kelly grabbed his first save of the season.

The WooSox continue the six-game series on Wednesday at 3:05 p.m. versus the Durham Bulls, affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. On the mound, Richard Fitts (0-0, 2.89) faces Jacob Lopez (2-1, 7.59).
