FLUSH IT: The Rochester Red Wings dropped their Sunday afternoon contest and split a six-game series in Buffalo, dropping the finale 17-0...the Wings offense collected just one hit in the game, a third-inning single off the bat of 2B DARREN BAKER...this marks the first time Rochester has been one-hit in a nine-inning game since 8/7/2021 vs. SYR...DH CARTER KIEBOOM collected a pair of walks in the contest and has reached base safely in each of the nine games he has played this season...Rochester begins a six-game set at home against Toledo this afternoon, the only time they will see Detroit's top affiliate this season...Wings' Opening Day starter RHP JOAN ADON takes the mound for his second Triple-A start of the year against Mud Hens' RHP Devin Sweet.
THEY WALK THE LINE: Rochester hitters combined to draw 10 walks in the contest Sunday, the third time the team has drawn double-digit walks this season...RF TRAVIS BLANKENHORN, LF ALEX CALL, DH CARTER KIEBOOM, and SS JACK DUNN each collected a pair in the contest, the first time Rochester has had four hitters draw at least two walks since 8/18/2023, in a game that was also at Buffalo...three games with double-digit walks surpasses their 2023 total (2) and is tied for most by a Wings team since 2018 (3 times)...
The Wings have drawn 77 walks this season, third-most in the International League.
RUN ITS COURSE: The Red Wings offense was shut out for the first time in 150 games on Sunday, breaking what was the longest active scoring streak in the International League...no Rochester squad had scored a run in at least 100 consecutive games since Innovative Field opened in 1997...
The 17-0 loss was the largest shutout loss by a Wings team since at least 1988.
HERE COMES THE KIEBOOM: DH CARTER KIEBOOM finished Sunday's contest 0-for-2 with a pair of walks, and has reached base safely in all nine games played this season, the longest active on-base streak on the team...Kieboom posts a .459 on-base percentage this season, third on the team and 11th-best in the International League.
I REMEMBER YOU: RHP TJ ZEUCH made his first appearance with the Red Wings on Sunday and allowed four runs on two hits while walking three...the University of Pittsburgh product is the 17th pitcher to appear for Rochester in the 2024 season...
As a member of the Bisons, the Ohio native threw a nine-inning no-hitter against the Red Wings on 8/19/2019, the last pitcher to achieve this feat against Rochester.
