Canes Recall Phil Di Giuseppe from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Phil Di Giuseppe from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Di Giuseppe, 22, scored a goal and earned an assist in the Checkers' 4-1 home win against Manitoba on Sunday, to give him seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in 22 AHL games this season. The Maple, Ont., native made his NHL debut on Dec. 5 in the Hurricanes' game against Montreal, and has notched three goals and earned five assists (8 points) in 14 NHL games this season. He suffered a concussion on Jan. 2 against Nashville, and was reassigned to Charlotte on Friday after being cleared to play. The Hurricanes drafted Di Giuseppe (6'0", 200 lbs.) in the second round, 38th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.
