Chicago's Pat Cannone Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week
Published on January 18, 2016 under American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Chicago Wolves center Pat Cannone has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 17, 2016.
The Wolves notched 11 goals last week and Cannone contributed a point on seven of them, scoring five times - including two game-winning goals - and adding two assists in four contests.
After beginning the week with an assist at Rockford on Tuesday night, Cannone broke a scoreless tie midway through the third period vs. Iowa on Friday and later added an assist as the Wolves defeated the Wild, 3-0. He scored again vs. Lake Erie on Saturday, and then capped his second career hat trick with the overtime winner in Chicago's 4-3 victory at Grand Rapids on Sunday.
Chicago's captain and a 2016 AHL All-Star Classic selection, Cannone leads the Wolves with 13 goals, 30 points and a plus-12 rating in 36 games this season, his fifth professional campaign. The native of Bayport, N.Y., has totaled 73 goals and 108 assists for 181 points in 311 career AHL games with Chicago and Binghamton. Cannone originally signed as a free agent with Ottawa after four seasons at Miami University, and was acquired by the St. Louis Blues on July 8, 2013.
In recognition of his achievement, Cannone will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolves home game.
