Chicago Wolves News Release
The American Hockey League announced Monday that Chicago Wolves center Pat Cannone has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 17. The Wolves captain had a hand in seven of the team's 11 goals during the week with 5 goals and 2 assists, which included a pair of game-winning goals.
The 29-year-old Cannone, who was selected on Jan. 7 to play in the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic, finished his prolific week with 3 goals Sunday afternoon at Grand Rapids. He capped his second career hat trick with the game-winning goal 2:29 into overtime to snap the Griffins' 14-game home winning streak.
Cannone has scored 5 goals in his last three games and owns a five-game point streak. He paces the Wolves in goals (13), points (30), plus/minus rating (+12), power-play goals (5) and game-winning goals (4). The Bayport, N.Y. native has delivered 43 goals, 68 assists and a +47 plus/minus rating in 159 regular-season games for the Wolves.
To commemorate his CCM/AHL Player of the Week honor, Cannone will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolves home game.
The Wolves continue their five-game road trip at 7 p.m. Friday at Charlotte. Chicago returns to Allstate Arena on Saturday, Jan. 30, to face the Rockford IceHogs in an Illinois Lottery Cup game. To get the best deals on tickets, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com.
