St. John's IceCaps News Release
TRIBUTE JERSEY: The IceCaps unveiled a jersey to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment's battle at Beaumont-Hamel. The team will don its new look on February 5th and 6th as they take on the Utica Comets at Mile One Centre.
ICECAP FIRSTS: Max Friberg notched his first goal as an IceCap on Wednesday night against the WBS Penguins. Markus Eisenschmid also potted his first pro goal on Sunday against the Toronto.
Ryan Johnston made his IceCaps debut on Saturday night and picked up his first pro point on Sunday afternoon.
TRADE CENTRAL: The Montreal Canadiens traded Jarred Tinordi and Stefan Fournier in return for Arizona's John Scott and Victor Bartley.
Forward John Scott joined the IceCaps on Saturday and has yet to play for the club.
Despite dominating the shots battle 34-23, the IceCaps fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Mile One Centre. Gabriel Dumont scored on the first shot of the game but the Penguins responded with two unanswered goals.
The IceCaps dropped their second game to the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Max Friberg, Mark MacMillan, Morgan Ellis and Bud Holloway each scored for the home team. The IceCaps outshot the Penguins for the second straight night, this time by a 40-19 margin.
Brendan Leipsic scored a hat trick as the Toronto Marlies bested the IceCaps at Mile One Centre. Bud Holloway, Charles Hudon and Daniel Carr scored for St. John's, which dropped its fifth straight game. Morgan Ellis notched a pair as the IceCaps snapped a five-game losing skid with a win over Toronto in front of a hometown crowd. Markus Eisenschmid, Daniel Carr, Lucas Lessio and Gabriel Dumont also scored for St. John's.
