
Canaries Acquire Outfielder Jake Luce in Trade

SIOUX FALLS, SD-The Sioux Falls Canaries announced on Friday morning that the team has acquired outfielder Jake Luce in a trade with the Atlantic League's Lancaster Barnstormers for a player to be named later.
Luce, 26, has played in four professional seasons, all at the Independent level. The lefty outfielder holds a .264 career batting average to go along with his 60 RBI's in 153 games played. Luce appeared in 79 games with the United League's Brownsville Charros, and American Association's Wichita Wingnuts in 2014, posting a .313 batting average, collecting 17 doubles, seven homeruns, and 42 RBI's. Luce appeared in 34 games with the American Association Champion, Wichita Wingnuts, collecting nine doubles, two homeruns, and 16 runs batted in.
In order to make room on the roster, the Canaries sent outfielder Harrison Kain to the Wichita Wingnuts for a player to be named later.
Kain appeared in 38 games for Sioux Falls in 2015, collecting three doubles, four homeruns, and a triple to go along with his .231 batting average. He also racked up nine stolen bases in 13 attempts.
Luce and the Birds' open up a four-game series with the Gary-Southshore RailCats on Friday night, before returning to Sioux Falls Stadium on Wednesday, July 15th for a four-game series against their North Division rivals, the St. Paul Saints.
