Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo, TX - The Amarillo ThunderHeads (23-23) silenced the Laredo Lemurs (24-24) bats with a 3-0 win on Friday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
The Amarillo ThunderHeads used four pitchers to keep the Lemurs off balance at the plate tonight. Leondy Perez (1-0) took the ball at the start of the game for Amarillo, as he went 5.1 innings giving up six hits with only one walk and three strikeouts, not allowing the Lemurs to score a run while earning the win. The relievers for the ThunderHeads stayed strong as well as Leyson Septimo, Richard Barrett, and Randy Hamrick combined to allow only two hits to the Lemurs over the last 3.2 innings of work.
The Amarillo offense started in the second with a Stefan Gartrell solo home run off of Lemurs starter Greg Holle. That was the first home run allowed by Holle all season long and it was the first earned run Holle allowed in 30.1 innings. The ThunderHeads would score a run in the second, third and fourth.
Greg Holle (3-4) took the ball for the Lemurs and he was outstanding again, going nine complete innings. He gave up three runs, two of which were earned. He didn't walk anybody and struck out seven while taking the tough-luck loss. In Holle's ten starts he has six games where he has not given up a walk and he has only walked nine batters all season long over 72.1 innings.Â
The Lemurs offense saw Dustin Geiger hit the ball well, going three for four with two singles and a double. Otherwise, it was pretty quit night at the plate for Laredo.
The Lemurs have now been shut out in three of their last six games and have been shut out a total of five times during the season.
The Laredo Lemurs will look to rebound tomorrow as they take on the Amarillo ThunderHeads at 7:30pm at Uni-Trade Stadium.
