Wright's Contract Sold to Washington Nationals

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have sold the contract of C Zach Wright to the Washington Nationals organization. He will report to the Syracuse Chiefs, the Nationals Triple-A affiliate in the International League. Wright is the 66th RedHawks player to have his contract purchased by a Major League organization.

Wright, 25, joined the RedHawks on Monday after being released by the Los Angeles Angels organization after playing this season with the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League (Double-A). He appeared in four games for the RedHawks and batted .455 (5-for-11) with three RBIs and three walks.

Wright was selected by the Angels in the 12th round of the 2012 draft out of East Carolina University. In three-plus seasons in the Angels organization, he batted .243 with 39 doubles, four triples, 25 home runs, 113 RBIs and 135 runs scored in 273 games.

The RedHawks continue their seven-game homestand tonight with the first of three games against the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am League. Game time is 7:02 p.m., with post-game fireworks to follow.
