Boise Hawks News Release
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Balbino Fuenmayor launched a long two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to cap a Vancouver rally, as the Canadians ended a three-game losing streak with a 7-6 victory over the Boise Hawks, before 5,157 fans at Nat Bailey Stadium.
The Canadians, who came into the day tied with Eugene atop the Northwest League West Division, rallied from an early 6-0 deficit, using four-run second inning rally, and capping the comeback with the blast from Fuenmayor.
Boise jumped out to the big lead by sending 11 men to the plate in the second, getting an RBI single from Trey Martin and a two-run single from Lance Rymel. Stephen Bruno drove in a run with a fielders choice, with two runs plated via wild pitches.
The C's would respond, as an RBI by Christian Lopes got Vancouver on the board, followed by a Carlos Ramirez RBI triple and run scoring hits from Tucker Frawley and Ian Parmley. Trailing 6-5 in the seventh, Parmley reached on an error, scoring an out later on the long bomb by Fuenmayor.
Vancouver's bullpen was the story, as a trio of relievers did not allow a runner into scoring position after the second inning. Colton Turner got the win in relief, with Arik Sikula picking up his seventh save.
Marco Hernandez went 3-for-4 in the loss for the Hawks, with Jeimer Candelario ending an 0-for-22 skid with two singles.
Game 4 of the series is tomorrow night at 8:05 p.m. (MT) with Ian Dickson meeting Dan Norris.
