Calgary Hitmen Select Finnish Forward In 2009 CHL Import Draft

Calgary, AB - Calgary Hitmen General Manager Kelly Kisio announced today the selection of Erik Haula (HALL-ah) 59th overall in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Haula is a 5'10" 170 lbs. left winger from Pori, Finland. The 18 year-old played this past season in the U.S. with prep school powerhouse Shattuck-St. Mary's and was drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild.

"Our scouts and I have seen Erik play several times, including last April's World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Fargo, North Dakota," said Kisio. "He's a versatile skilled forward who has a chance to be a pro."
