'Cakes Return to Action, Lose in Nashville

New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release


Nashville - Wilkin Castillo came off the bench to drill a three a run ninth inning home run but the Nashville Sounds held on to defeat New Orleans 11-7 in the first game out of the all-star-break.

The 'Cakes and Sounds were scoreless thru the first four innings. Nashville scored a pair of runs in the fifth and the 'Cakes answered with a pair in the top of the sixth inning. The Sounds sent eleven hitters to the plate in the sixth inning scoring six runs. Robert Dugger drops to 2-1 on the season allowing eight runs, seven earned in five and a third innings. Kyle Dowdy earned the win in relief for Nashville pitching two and a third innings.

Jose Trevino led the Sounds with three hits. Nashville scored two in the fifth, six runs in the sixth and added three in the seventh. New Orleans allowed double digit runs for the eleventh time this season.

The 'Cakes are 49-42 on the season 6 games back of first place San Antonio.

GAME NOTES- The Miami Marlins assigned pitcher Jeff Brigham to New Orleans. Catcher Chad Wallach started a Major League rehab assignment.
