C Kyle Higashioka Joins Thunder

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Thursday that C Kyle Higashioka has been transferred to the team from Class A-Advanced Tampa. C Jeff Farnham has been placed on the disabled list.

Higashioka (pronounced hig-AH-she-oh-kuh) played in 20 games for the Tampa Yankees this season and batted .206 with 4 home runs and 15 RBI. Originally a seventh-round draft pick by the Yankees in 2008 out of Edison H.S. in California, the 22-year-old is in his 5th professional season.
