
Independence Day a Blast with the Baysox

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today the Red, White and Boom All-American Independence Day Celebration at Prince George's Stadium Wednesday, July 4, as the team takes on the Harrisburg Senators at 6:05 p.m. The event features the popular Independence Day Barbecue, an apple pie eating contest, a display from a charitable organization that benefits veterans and an extended fireworks display.
Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser looks forward to the event. "Independence Day and baseball go hand-in-hand and we have a great show planned here at Prince George's Stadium," Kaiser said. "Not only do we have our most exciting fireworks show of the season after the game, but there will be tons of fun ways to celebrate the holiday during the day, including the Independence Day picnic."
Fans can enjoy the game along with a two-hour buffet at the annual Independence Day Picnic. The menu includes grilled all-beef hamburgers and hot dogs, corn on the cob, barbecue baked beans, crunchy chips, chilled watermelon and soft drinks. The buffet is served from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and tickets are $27 for adults, $22 for children ages six to 12, $10 for children ages three to five and $22 for season ticket holders. The picnic includes a general admission seat ticket for the games and fans can upgrade to reserved seat tickets for $4 each. The Baysox have introduced a new ticket pack this season for fans interested in attending the game July 4. The Independence Day Double Play pack includes a box seat ticket for the game on the Fourth of July and a ticket for another Baysox home game later this season for just $20. Fans interested in coming to one of the Baysox most exciting games of the season can reserve their $15 box seat ticket in advance and get a ticket for a future Baysox home game for just $5. The ticket pack must be ordered by Friday, June 29 and more information is available at www.baysoxshop.com.
As they approach the stadium, fans can see the Ford F650 4x4 pickup truck the Truckin4Troops Foundation uses to transport returning servicemen from BWI airport to local hotels. The organization also provides personally engraved iPods with preloaded patriotic songs to wounded veterans. After the game, the Baysox host one of the finest fireworks displays in the region, with an extended extravaganza that is nearly twice as long as the usual fireworks display.
