LAST GAME: The B-Mets lost both ends of a doubleheader to the Reading Phillies last night at NYSEG Stadium, falling 3-1 in game one before suffering a 1-0 loss in the nightcap. The B-Mets took a one-run lead into the seventh in the opener, but the R-Phils pounded out three hits in a three-run inning. Mark Cohoon had tossed six scoreless innings before getting tagged for all three runs in the losing effort. The B-Mets scored their only run of the night in the first inning against starter Jonathan Pettibone. Josh Rodriguez started the rally with a single and scored when Jefry Marte ripped a double down the third base line. In the nightcap, the B-Mets offense was handcuffed by four R-Phils pitchers. Binghamton managed just six hits and never had a runner reach third in their seventh shutout loss of the season. Reading scored their only run on a sac fly against starter Collin McHugh in the fourth inning.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Zack Wheeler (6-2, 1.66) makes his eleventh start of the season and second against the Reading Phillies. Wheeler has won each of his last six starts, dating back to April 29. He collected the win in his previous start versus the Harrisburg Senators on June 7. He allowed just one unearned run over seven innings and lowered his ERA to a season-low 1.66. The righty walked four, struck out seven and surrendered just two hits. Wheeler gave up just one run on three hits and struck out eight over seven innings in a win over the R-Phils on May 31. The Georgia native has thrown seven innings or more in each of his last four starts.

RHP Austin Hyatt (1-0, 3.09) takes the mound for the Reading Phillies for the third time this season. He allowed just one run on five hits over six innings in a no-decision in his last start against the Altoona Curve on June 7. Hyatt began the season with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA), but was demoted after going 2-6 with a 5.47 ERA in 10 starts. He went winless over his final seven games and ended his time in the International League on a six-game losing streak. Selected in the 15th round of the 2009 draft by the Phillies out of the University of Alabama, Hyatt is in his third season with the R-Phils.

D�J=C0 VU ALL OVER AGAIN....AND AGAIN: The B-Mets could not hold a one-run lead in the seventh inning or later for the fourth time in the last seven games. Binghamton blew late one-run leads in two games against the Harrisburg Senators (6/5 & 6/6) and one game against the Trenton Thunder (6/10).

WHOLE LOTTA NOTHING: Binghamton's 1-0 loss in the nightcap last night was their first 1-0 defeat since they fell by that score to the Akron Aeros on April 10, 2011.

STRIKE FIRST STREAK OVER: In the nightcap last night, the B-Mets failed to score the first run in the game. It was the first time the opponent has scored first since June 1 (9 games).

ALL OVER THE LEADER BOARD: B-Mets starter Zack Wheeler owns the third-best ERA in the Eastern League at 1.66. He is tied for second in strikeouts (67), second in WHIP (0.96), has held opponents to the lowest batting average (.160) and has the best strikeout ratio among starters (10.1 K/9 IP).

WE'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE: The B-Mets are looking to avoid getting swept for the first time this season in a series longer than two games. The Reading Phillies were the last team to sweep the B-Mets, taking all four games of the final regular season series last year. The wins clinched a postseason berth for the R-Phils.

THE STOPPER: The B-Mets have gone into four of Zack Wheeler's last six starts on losing streaks of two games or more. Binghamton has won each game.

FEAST OR FAMINE: The B-Mets lead the Eastern League with 19 wins decided by four runs or more. They are tied for second in the league with seven shutout losses.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets kick off a three-game series against the Altoona Curve, affiliate of the Pittsburg Pirates tomorrow night at 7:05 PM.
