Busfield, Hot Rods Defeat Captains, 3-2

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods beat the Lake County Captains 3-2 Friday night. RHP J.D. Busfield earned the win, throwing six innings, striking out five. Six different Hot Rods had base hits in the win.
The Hot Rods got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. SS Taylor Walls led off with a double down the line in left field. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, he scored when LF Jim Haley hit a sacrifice fly, making it 1-0 Bowling Green after one inning.
The home team added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth. 2B Justin Bridgman hit an RBI base knock that scored DH Devin Davis, making it 2-0. RF Emilio Gustave followed that with an RBI fielder's choice, and it was 3-0 Bowling Green.
Lake County scored their two runs in the top of the sixth when DH Mitch Reeves hit a two-run home run to left field off the top of the wall, but the Captains could not tie it.
Busfield earned the win, throwing six innings, allowing seven hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out five. RHP Tyler Day threw two innings of relief, allowing just one walk, striking out four. RHP Simon Rosenblum-Larson earned the save, his third with the Hot Rods this season.
The Hot Rods and Captains will square off in game two of their four game series tomorrow night beginning at 6:35pm. RHP Tommy Romero (7-1, 3.36) will get the start for Bowling Green, while Lake County will counter with RHP Jean Carlos Mejia (2-7, 2.56).
