
Martin's 7.0 Scoreless Innings Leads Hot Rods to 7-0 Victory

Wappingers Falls, New York - Trevor Martin shined over 7.0 scoreless frames while the offense backed him up with seven runs on 11 hits in a 7-0 win for the Bowling Green Hot Rods (10-6) over the Hudson Valley Renegades (9-7) on Tuesday at Heritage Financial Park in Wappingers Falls, New York.
Bowling Green took the lead in the top of the first against Hudson Valley starter Baron Stuart. Chandler Simpson led-off with a single and stole second to put a runner in scoring position. Simpson stole third and scored on a throwing error by Renegades catcher Rafael Flores, putting the Hot Rods up 1-0.
The Hot Rods extended their lead off Stuart in the top of the third. Xavier Isaac doubled and scored on an RBI double by Cooper Kinney to make it 2-0. Colton Ledbetter doubled, plating Kinney to extend the lead, 3-0. Kamren James scored Ledbetter on an RBI single to left, moving the score, 4-0.
In the top of the fourth Bowling Green drove in another run with Stuart still on the mound. Simpson collected a one-out single and stole second base. Brayden Taylor grounded out, advancing Simpson to third. Isaac scored Simpson on a base hit to make it a 5-0 advantage.
The Hot Rods kept their momentum in the sixth inning against Renegades reliever Cole Ayers. With two outs, Isaac walked and came around to score on an RBI double by Kinney, lengthening the lead to 6-0. Kinney drove in one more run with a single in the top of the eighth against Geoff Gilbert, leading Bowling Green to a 7-0 win.
Martin (2-0) tossed 7.0 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven in his second win of the season. Stuart (0-1) was given his first loss of the year, surrendering five runs (four earned) on seven hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
The Hot Rods and Renegades play the second game of a six-game series on Wednesday with a 10:05 PM CT first pitch. Bowling Green is scheduled to send out RHP Alex Cook (1-1, 2.08) against Hudson Valley RHP Jackson Fristoe (0-0, 9.00).
