
IronBirds Top BlueClaws 9-2 in Series Opener on Tuesday

ABERDEEN, MD - Elio Prado had two hits and drove in four runs while Tavian Josenberger had three hits and drove in two as Aberdeen cruised to a 9-2 win over the BlueClaws in their series opener on Tuesday night at Leidos Field.
The BlueClaws (8-8) have dropped three in a row for the first time this season while Aberdeen leveled the season series at a game apiece, getting to 7-9 on the year.
Aberdeen opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI double from Reed Trimble. Elio Prado cleared the bases with a three run double in the fifth inning to give the IronBirds a 4-0 lead. Then in the sixth, Tavian Josenberger doubled in two more while Prado followed with an RBI double to bring in Josenberger.
Jalen Vasquez homered off Jack Dallas in the seventh to give the IronBirds a 9-0 lead.
Starter Starlyn Castillo (0-2) was charged with one run over four innings while striking out three. Jonathan Petit and Danny Wilkinson each gave up three runs while Dallas gave up two.
Aberdeen starter Cam Weston gave up just one hit over 4.2 scoreless innings while striking out five and walking three. Yaqui Rivera (1-1) got the last out of the fifth and Edgar Portes pitched the last four innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
The BlueClaws got their run in the eighth on an RBI single by Justin Crawford. Emaarion Boyd singled home another run in the ninth.
Crawford, who had two hits, extended his hitting streak to nine games over which he is 14-35. Zach Arnold had a hit and drew two walks.
The teams continue their series on Wednesday night at Leidos Field. RHP Jean Cabrera starts for Jersey Shore.
