FC Dallas News Release

DALLAS – Dallas Burn defender Cory Gibbs has been named to the US Men's National Team 19-man roster for their match at Poland next Wednesday, March 31. Kickoff for the match is 12:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Gibbs, who joined the Burn on February 5, has nine caps with the National Team and two since joining the Burn. Gibbs played the full 90 minutes in both a 1-1 draw vs. Haiti on March 13 and in a 1-0 loss at Holland on February 15.

Gibbs will depart Dallas on Friday, March 26 and return to Dallas on Thursday, April 1, in time for the Burn season opener vs. the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cotton Bowl.

The U.S. has played Poland more than any other European team in their history and currently hold a 4-7-1 record against the team, but the two sides have only met four times in the past 15 years, each coming away with two victories. The teams will reconvene on July 11 at the newly renovated Soldier Field in Chicago, the U.S. Men's first appearance in the Windy City in more than 11 years.

After Poland, the U.S. will face 2002 World Cup foe Mexico on Wednesday, April 28 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on Telemundo at 7:30 p.m. CT. The team will also play a domestic friendly in the beginning of June, with the site and opponent yet to be determined. The U.S. opens 2006 World Cup qualifying at home against Grenada on June 13, with the return leg scheduled for June 20. Details on those matches have yet to be finalized.

BURN TO FACE CHICAGO IN MISSISSIPPI ON SATURDAY

In their final tune-up before opening the 2004 season, the Burn will face their arch-rival, the Chicago Fire, this Saturday, March 27 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Tickets for the match can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets. For more information, fans can contact the Ridgeland Tourism Commission at 1-800-468-6078.
