Earthquakes Sign Fifth Round Draft Pick Tighe Dombrowski to Developmental Contract

San Jose (Wednesday, March 24, 2004) - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the team has signed rookie Tighe Dombrowski to a developmental contract. He will be available for Wednesday night's match against LD Alajuelense at 7:30 p.m. PT in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Dombrowski, 22, was selected by San Jose in the fifth round (50th overall) of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft in Charlotte, NC. Dombrowski was a First Team All-Horizon League selection for three straight seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and was a member of the Horizon League All-Tournament Team in addition to being named First Team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region. The Wisconsin native scored a career-high seven goals in 2003.

Dombrowski is the Earthquakes fourth roster protected player on the team, joining Project-40 players Arturo Alvarez, Ryan Cochrane and Steve Cronin. Major League Soccer teams are allowed a total of 24 players, including 18 senior roster players and six roster protected players, either Developmental or Project-40.
